Juvederm®/Surgiderm® are safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, best used for areas such as crow's feet, glabellar frown lines, forehead lines, laughing lines, cheek wrinkles, marionette lines.
The Juvederm®/Surgiderm® range are cross linked hyaluronic acid which is claimed to allow for a tighter, more uniform, and greater number of cross-link structures – allowing greater resistance to degradation, meaning that it claims to last longer than other hyaluronic based fillers.
Surgiderm 18 is designed for injection into the superficial dermis for fine lines such as laughter lines around the eyes and the smoker lines or peri-oral lines above the top lip.
Surgiderm 24 XP, Juvederm 24 is designed for injection into the medium dermis for medium to deep lines and wrinkles, and for enhancing the border on the lips (vermillion border).
Surgiderm 30 is designed for injection into the deep dermis for treatment of deep lines and wrinkles and deep skin depressions.
Surgiderm 30 XP is designed for injection into all three levels of the dermis and can be used for the treatment of medium and deep skin depressions, the enhancement of volume, such as cheek atrophy or sunken areas, and also for enhancing the border of the lips (vermillion border).
What should I do prior to treatment?
Juvederm®/Surgiderm® requires no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, St. John's wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
Is Juvederm®/Surgiderm® safe? How long does it last?
Yes. They are both non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, and will be completely broken down within the skin over a period of months, eventually leaving no trace of the filler. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the human body. Juvederm®/Surgiderm® is fully biocompatible. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling a t the injection site. These effects typically resolve in less than seven days.
After Juvederm®/Surgiderm® is injected beneath your skin, the hyaluronic acid attracts and bonds with water molecules sustaining the affects for up 6, 12 months or even longer. They are both non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, and will be completely broken down within the skin over a period of months, eventually leaving no trace of the filler.
Do the injections hurt?
Juvederm®/Surgiderm® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, the treatment area may be anesthetized.
Juvederm®/Surgiderm® can be used in conjunction with Dysport BTA and with Thermage skin tightening radiofrequency treatment for maximum rejuvenation results.
